TORONTO — Canadian Tire’s chief technology officer Eugene Roman has been named Private Sector CIO of the Year by the Information Technology Association of Canada, Canadian CIO magazine, and the Canadian CIO Association. The annual award recognizes leadership demonstrated by chief information officers and equivalent senior tech executives. Michael Medline, Canadian Tire’s CEO and president, hailed Roman as the “key architect” of the company’s technological innovation. Roman joined the company in 2012 with a mandate to turn it into a “world class digital retailer.”
