Construction spending edges up in February

Investment in building construction rose slightly by 1.0 percent to $20.6 billion in February, according to new StatCan data. Residential construction spending increased by 1.1 percent to $15 billion in February. Single-family home investment, up 1.3 percent or $102.8 million, contributed the most to the growth. In the non-residential sector, spending rose by 0.8 percent to $5.6 billion.
