Investment in building construction grew by 2.8 percent to $21.4 billion in June, StatCan reports, after a slight increase of 0.8 percent in May. The increase was primarily driven by the residential sector, where spending was up 3.8 percent to $15.0 billion. Every province but Nova Scotia and each territory except Nunavut logged gains in residential construction spending. Quebec led the way at $3.3 billion, an increase of $265.0 million.
