Dealers upbeat at Home Hardware Market despite sluggish economy

ST. JACOBS, Ont. ― With a slow start to the year and a warm weather just now giving some hints of stronger conditions ahead, dealers attending this week’s Home Hardware Spring Market were generally positive about their businesses.

And that attitude spread to the exhibitors on the show floor. The dealers were in a buying mood, as well. Vendors who spoke with Hardlines at the market were pretty much unanimous in giving thumbs’ up to the event. Highlights of the show included an expanded floor-covering assortment, smart home products and Beauti-Tone Paint’s partnership with Canadian Living magazine for a new paint colour range.

Kevin Macnab, president and CEO of Home Hardware Stores Ltd., addressed the dealers publicly for the first time at a meeting before the show on Tuesday.
