DIY runs deep for Home Hardware CEO

WATERLOO, Ont. — Home Hardware’s Terry Davis spoke to Report on Business about his rise up the company’s ranks and its position in the retail landscape, currently a close third to RONA and Home Depot. Home Hardware has learned to hold its own against the big boxes in part by drawing on the DIY culture of the surrounding Mennonite community in St. Jacobs. HARDLINES’ own Michael McLarney added that Davis’ light personal touch shouldn’t mask the “tight ship” he runs at HQ: “You think it’s that nice sleepy company tucked away in Mennonite country [but] don’t be fooled.”
