MONTREAL — Dollarama has plans for 400 new stores in Canada, including 150 openings over the next two years, The Toronto Star has reported. CFO Michael Ross told a CIBC investor conference that the company has room to grow. In addition to the 85 new stores planned for Canada this year, Dollarama is looking at opportunities for international expansion, adding to its 15 stores in El Salvador. Nevertheless, Ross says his company is conservative about real estate acquisitions, and a major chain buyout on the scale of Target’s acquisition of Zellers properties is not in the cards.
