VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — SamaN Canada, a specialist in wood finishing oil, lost its factory to fire last week. With the building and its contents beyond recovery, its 45 employees have been furloughed. The company has estimated the value of its losses at $3 million. The building was empty at the time of the nocturnal blaze, with the last workers having clocked off around 5 o’clock. The cause of the fire remains unknown, but is not considered suspicious. The city of Victoriaville notified Quebec’s environmental emergency office that used water reached a water crane serving the municipal water system.
