TORONTO — Amazon is still dominating consumers’ e-retail preferences, but other players are holding their own, according to the results of the BrandSpark Most Trusted Awards for 2019. Market research firm BrandSpark International surveyed 6,900 Canadians about 61 e-commerce and service categories to determine its rankings. Amazon’s win in a majority of the e-commerce categories reflects its success as a fulfillment site, yet retailers like Home Depot and Hudson’s Bay have won or kept up with Amazon in their specific categories.
Home Depot led the way in home improvement/renovation and major appliances. Hudson’s Bay tied with Amazon for first place in the women’s apparel category, while Canadian Tire Corp.’s SportChek banner topped sporting goods. Among the service categories, Canadian Tire was ranked most trusted in the newly created category for auto repair chains. Costco’s Capital One card was the fan favourite among cashback rewards cards.
