Home Depot CEO talks expansion

ATLANTA — In an in-depth interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Home Depot CEO Craig Menear says the company will construct some 170 warehouses and distribution centres in the U.S. as part of an $11 billion growth investment. Planned changes will not be dramatic but are designed to keep Home Depot competitive in an evermore digital marketplace.

Lockers for pickup of online orders are gradually appearing in Home Depot stores, while the company is also on a hiring push to fill tech-related jobs. “About 45% of the orders placed on HomeDepot.com are actually picked up in stores,” Menear told the Journal-Constitution. “And of those 45% who come into the stores, more than 20% make additional purchases.”
