Home Hardware upgrades in Cobourg

COBOURG, Ont. — Several changes to the local retail landscape here are forthcoming, according to Northumberland Today. Sobeys is seeking a zoning amendment in the town’s north end in order to build a new store almost twice the size of its current Foodland outlet. Planning director Glenn McGlashon said Sobeys has indicated it hopes to start building next year. At the same time, a new location for the Cobourg Home Hardware and Home Building Centre is under construction. “We’ll be open for business in January,” Brad O’Neill, who owns the store along with Joel Curtis, told the paper. Finally, local Canadian Tire franchisee Ralph Moulton is coy about rumours of an impending change of ownership or management, saying that the “right time” for an announcement is still around the corner.
