TORONTO — Housing starts dropped in December from the previous month, to 172,965 units seasonally adjusted from 212,028 units in November, StatCan reports. Urban starts decreased by 19.1% in December to 159,007 units. Multiple urban starts decreased by 27.0% and single-detached urban starts held steady at 57,743 units.
