The seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts fell by 12.2 percent in December from November, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. Because of pandemic-related disruptions, the data exclude B.C’s Kelowna census metropolitan area. The SAAR of urban starts for the month declined by 12.8 percent. Multiple urban starts decreased by 15.1 percent while single-detached urban starts were down 5.5 percent.
