Douglas McLellan died unexpectedly in London, Ont., in late December at the age of 68. McLellan worked for MDL Doors from 1984 to 2012, helping to grow the entrance door maker into Ontario’s largest pre-hanging door firm. Upon retirement, he took a part-time job at the Home Hardware Building Centre in Mount Forest, Ont. He worked there until 2018, when he was hired to a consulting role by Mark Lichty, the new owner of MDL Door Systems.
McLellan is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Diane (née Strangway). Due to public health measures he was cremated privately, with a memorial service to be planned when circumstances permit.
