Rockabilly signer-songwriter Ronnie Hawkins has died at the age of 87. He was born and raised in Arkansas and as a teenager delivered moonshine from Missouri to the dry counties of Oklahoma. It was in his adoptive Canada however that he made his name. A talent scout as well as a performer, he mentored such artists as Robbie Robertson and Pat Travers. His 1984 album Making It Again garnered Hawkins a Juno for best Country Male Vocalist. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2013.
