Industry converges on Calgary for WRLA show

CALGARY — Dealers from Western Canada, along with vendors from across the country, have been heading to Calgary this week in anticipation of this year’s buying show by the Western Retail Lumber Association. The show has a new name this year, as the Prairie Showcase moniker gets replaced by a more inclusive “WRLA Buying Show.” But more significantly, the show’s new location in Calgary, after years in Saskatoon, marks an attempt to draw a wider range of dealers, while settling in a city that can accommodate the show’s expanding attendance by both dealers and exhibitors.

The show is preceded today by a number of dealer meetings by buying groups including Castle Building Centres, TIM-BR MART Group, and Sexton Group. This evening, the show kicks off officially with a meet-and-greet at the Hyatt Regency, and is sponsored again this year by Castle.

Tomorrow night’s 125th Anniversary Gala is sponsored by Jeld-Wen.
