MOORESVILLE, N.C. ― Lowe’s Cos. has opened its first Lowe’s Outlet store, offering discounts on appliances with superficial blemishes. The former Orchard Supply Hardware location in Monrovia, Calif., is about one-third the size of an average Lowe’s store. It sets itself apart from other outlets in that the merchandise is not used. “Other outlet stores have returned units and used units, but everything you see here in Lowe’s Outlet is brand new, just slightly imperfect,” Manager Dayna Brown explained to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. “Somewhere in transit it has been scratched or dented, maybe on its way to a customer’s house, and it made its way to the Outlet.” Brown added that customers can add three- or five-year warranties to their purchases.
