Ontario hardware dealers hit by lockdown

TORONTO — Hardware stores are among those businesses which will be shuttered throughout Ontario beginning Boxing Day, Premier Doug Ford has announced. Along with pet food stores, they will be limited to curbside pickup. This approach contrasts with that of Quebec, where hardware stores remain open and businesses obliged to close may not offer curbside pickup.

Discount and big-box retailers selling groceries are permitted to remain open. While the Retail Council of Canada is still seeking to clarify the definition, it says it appears to include retailers like Costco and Walmart.
