Investment in building construction edged up 0.3 percent to $20.8-billion in June, according to new StatCan data. A 2.4 percent gain in the non-residential sector helped keep overall investment up. Despite six provinces reporting growth, residential construction investment declined 0.4 percent to $15.5-billion in June, with Quebec’s 6.7 percent drop causing most of the fall. This was the first decline in nine months for residential investment.
