TORONTO — The Retail Council of Canada held its Excellence in Retailing Awards gala this week as part of its STORE 2019 conference. Sponsored by KPMG, the honours include 15 corporate awards, three individual awards of distinction and 17 scholarships. Canadian Tire Corp. took top honours in the In-Store Merchandising category for the second consecutive year. Lowe’s Canada tied with Sobeys for first place in the Philanthropic Leadership category, and Federated Co-operatives Ltd. with Kitchen Stuff Plus for Retail Marketing. Walmart Canada took top honours for Health, Safety and Wellness, and Ikea Canada received the Environmental Leadership award, sponsored by Call2Recycle.
