Retail recovery overstated: Strapagiel

TORONTO — The latest StatCan info suggesting Canadian retail bounced back in October may overstate the case, according to analyst Ed Strapagiel. Retail sales only rose 0.4% from the previous year without seasonal adjustment, he says, an unusually small increase. The weakness affects a variety of store types and appears set to continue into the near future.
