OTTAWA — Price wars between Canadian retailers and newer American arrivals could bring down inflation and interest rates, Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz has observed. But Wal-Mart Canada CEO Shelley Broader says that “There’s still more room to lower the cost of living,” even with prices plunging across departments. The retail crunch helped to push last year’s inflation to a 0.9% average, the lowest rate since the 2009 recession recovery, the Montreal Gazette reports.
