Rising prices can’t dampen Dollarama’s appeal

Inflation and challenges with sourcing product have obliged Montreal-based budget chain Dollarama to sell some products for as much as $5. That hasn’t hurt its sales, however, according to Le Journal de Montréal. The company generated $860 million in profits in 2021, even with store closures and staff turnover.

“It remains a store that’s very popular,” said Philippe Bertrand, co-founder of consultancy Amplio Stratégies. “It’s a store that’s accessible: they’re everywhere. I think it’s a beautiful business model.”
