With the announcement of Lowe’s Canada’s sale to New York-based Sycamore Partners, some RONA affiliate dealers are shopping for new homes. “It’s going to be shark week,” Hardlines president Michael McLarney told The Globe and Mail. “The other groups are going to be circling trying to get these RONA dealers to convert.”
A Lowe’s Canada spokesperson told the Globe that Sycamore recognizes the independents as “an integral part of our Canadian business model” and that the impact of the acquisition on dealers will be minimal.
