TORONTO — Saks Fifth Avenue is planning a format tailor-made for Canada when the upscale retailer makes its debut here. The retailer, which was acquired by Hudson’s Bay Company last year, will begin in Canada with seven stores on a more upscale model than their American counterparts. Offerings could include luxury food halls patterned on the famous concessions at Harrods in London and featuring Canadian delicacies. The new stores will face a tough fight as fellow luxury brand Nordstrom plans its first Canadian stores, according to Report on Business.
