TORONTO — Sears Canada bussed about 140 Target employees to its headquarters, CEO Ronald Boire has told the Canadian Press. Boire, who was just officially named president and CEO after filling the role in an acting capacity for three months, took the initiative as part of an nationwide effort to woo Target workers facing layoffs as the company pulls the plug on its Canadian operations. Sears has already given Target employees a discount and promised to hold local job fairs, raising eyebrows given the steep personnel cuts Sears itself has been making.
