Peter Simons is stepping down as CEO of the Simons department store chain after more than two decades in the post. Bernard Leblanc, EVP and head of corporate operations, succeeds him, effective immediately. Leblanc is the first CEO from outside the Simons family in the company’s 182-year history. Simons, who was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2018, remains with the business as chief merchant. He also continues to sit on the family council and advisory board.
