Sobeys’ parent Empire names Medline CEO

STELLARTON, N.S. — Former Canadian Tire CEO and President Michael Medline has been called to the same position at Empire. “Michael Medline is an outstanding Canadian retailer who brings a passion for the customer experience,” said Empire Chairman James Dickson, “and a proven ability to drive strong operating and financial performance within national organizations and across multiple brands.” Medline, who left Canadian Tire suddenly in July, will take up his new position immediately, working during the transition with François Vimard, who has been named executive vice-president.
