NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Stanley Black & Decker has launched Stanley Earth, a new brand that will bring together technologies aimed at meeting a societal need, including those related to climate and energy. Its maiden project is Nadi (Hindi for “river”), a solar-powered water pump designed to allow farmers to irrigate their land reliably and affordably. The pump has already chalked up a pilot in India on a fruit and vegetables farm, which was able to expand into rice using Nadi. The company is looking to introduce the technology to water-soaked regions in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. “These products will play a key role in helping our company create positive change and get us closer to achieving our goal of enhancing the lives of 500 million people,” said Jim Loree, CEO and president, in a release.
