BURNABY, B.C. — Sales for building supplies wholesaler Taiga Building Products Ltd. climbed a healthy 11% in the company’s second quarter, reaching $383.6 million compared to $344.9 million in the same period last year. The increase was mainly the result of higher lumber prices and increased sales from the company’s California operations. Earnings for the quarter increased to $5.7 million from $4.0 million. Year-to-date sales were also up 11%, going from $680.7 million to $758.3 million. Net earnings for the six month period doubled, reaching $11.2 million over $5.5 million.
