TORONTO — Target’s announced withdrawal from Canada will put more than 17,600 people out of work and send the giant retailer back home with its tail between its legs. According to the Toronto Star, Target made a litany of miscalculations and mistakes in its Canadian expansion, not the least of which was underestimating the strength of homegrown retailers. “They are not to be underestimated.” says our own HARDLINES editor.
