MONTREAL — Tembec is indefinitely suspending operations at its Senneterre, Que., sawmill, leaving 148 employees without work, the Canadian Press reports. The company, which posted robust Q1 results but adjusted EBITDA losses in the lumber business, pointed to high wood costs and a weak North American softwood lumber market in making the decision. “We continue to carefully assess the evolution of market conditions and to work with the Government of Quebec to find solutions to the high cost of fibre,” said CEO James Lopez. Tembec’s two other Quebec and five Ontario sawmills are unaffected.
