HardlinesConference2017“Retailers need to get more data savvy,” we reported 20 years ago. The annual Hardlines Conference had just ended and we quoted one of the speakers, Randy Harris of Trendex. Harris said retailers had been slow (in 2003) “to move on data collection and management.”

“In the ‘90s there was a lot of money spent on POS equipment,” we reported. “But so far, very few retailers are using data to better manage their businesses,” Harris told delegates.
