U.S. building permits miss estimates

Housing starts in the U.S. rose by 2.2 percent on a monthly basis in April, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. That increase exceeded analyst estimates of 1.9 percent. Building permits for the same period fell unexpectedly by 1.5 percent, in contrast to a projected three-percent rise.
