U.S. construction spending edges up

U.S. investment in construction spending in April rose by 0.2 percent, according to the U.S. Commerce Department, following a 0.3 percent increase in March. In a Reuters poll, economists projected gains of 0.5 percent. Spending on private projects rose 0.5 percent, with residential construction spending up by 0.9 percent.
