U.S. construction spending increases

The U.S. Commerce Department said this week that investment in construction rose by 0.3 percent in July, after remaining flat in June. Spending on private projects rose by the same factor. On a year-over-year basis, construction spending rose by nine percent. In a Reuters poll, economists projected a 0.2 percent gain in July.
