The U.S. Commerce Department said last week that investment in construction rose by 0.5 percent in February. The growth was smaller than the one percent rise forecast by economists in a Reuters poll. Year-over-year, February’s construction spending swelled by 11.2 percent. January’s preliminary estimate of a 1.3 percent increase was revised to 1.6 percent.
