NEW YORK — The Case-Shiller home price index rose 6.1% in August, after a 5.9% increase in July. The results met analyst expectations, with 19 out of 20 cities in the city index seeing increases. Low interest rates and high demand for a limited number of existing units combined to drive prices up. The 20-city index saw a 5.9% hike year-over-year, compared to 5.8% in July. Only Atlanta posted a decrease, with prices dropping by 0.2% from July.
