WASHINGTON — Housing starts in the U.S. reached 1,017,000 seasonally adjusted in September, reports the U.S. Department of Commerce. That’s up 6.3% from August and up 17.8% from September 2013. Building permits for the same month inched up 1.5% to 1,018,000 seasonally adjusted. That’s up 2.5% from a year earlier.
