SPECIAL REPORT — Several U.S. retail chains are imposing mandatory mask rules in their stores, regardless of local regulations. Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Costco are among those that have adopted the rule across their banners. U.S. states and municipalities have a patchwork of policies on masking. Some 80 percent of Target stores are in communities where the law requires masks, compared to only 65 percent of Walmart stores. In Canada, Quebec has required masks in public indoor places since earlier this month, while several Ontario municipalities have made similar moves.
