Walmart admits photo lab hack

MISSSISSAUGA, Ont. — Walmart Canada has warned customers that their personal data including credit card information is compromised if they used the banner’s Photo Centre between June 2014 and this past July. The company disabled the Photo Centre website and associated mobile apps in July, while warning customers of a possible breach, the Toronto Star reports. It has now confirmed that Vancouver-based PNI Digital Media, which operated the site and apps and is owned by Staples, was the victim of a malware attack affecting some servers driving the Canadian photo site. A statement from the company says it is “not able to confirm whether any personal customer information potentially collected by the malware was misused by a third party.”
