BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has rolled out its holiday layaway program a week before Labour Day, two weeks earlier than last year. Customers can now pay in installments over up to 90 days on thousands of items costing $10 or more, when an order’s total comes to at least $50. At the same time, Toy Week gives customers a preview of the hot toys of the coming season. Toy sales are expected to skyrocket this winter due to the release of Star Wars: the Force Awakens in December. This week, Walmart will add 500 Star Wars-themed products to its shelves.
