ATLANTA — Home Depot last week announced that its Foundation will donate $50 million to the Home Builders Institute. The funds will assist the training of 20,000 people, including veterans, high school students, and underprivileged young people. The Home Depot Foundation’s efforts are meant to counter a shortage of workers that has lead to project delays and higher prices. “It’s important that we support the trades,” Home Depot CEO Craig Menear told USA Today. “Not only do we sell product to professionals like plumbers and electricians,” but the company also partners with service providers that install kitchen flooring, hot water heaters, and other equipment in consumers’ homes.
