Resolute Forest Products said this week it earned net income of $256-million, or $3.29 per diluted share, in Q2. That was down from $268-million ($3.34) in the comparable period of 2021. Sales for the quarter fell $82-million to $1.06 billion. Last month, Resolute reached a deal with Paper Excellence Group that would see the latter’s subsidiary Domtar acquire its outstanding common shares.
