Alberta wildfires: How Weyerhaeuser was affected

The Alberta forest fires had a big impact on our industry, especially the forest products companies involved in logging and milling. One such firm was Weyerhaeuser Co. Ltd., which had to take emergency measures at three of its worker communities in Drayton Valley, Edson, and Grande Prairie, Alta., according to the president of the Canadian subsidiary, David Graham.

About three weeks ago, the company completely evacuated the first two of those communities, involving about 250 employees and their families. They are now back in their homes and the mills are back in operation, Graham said.
