CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple is extending its mobile payment app to Canada, the Wall Street Journal reports. The company is in talks with Canada’s Big Five banks as well as National Bank of Canada to negotiate a November debut for Apple Pay. The banks are reported to be receptive to a deal, but they’ve balked at the fees Apple has proposed. The six banks combined hold about 90% of all retail bank accounts in Canada, so a deal with the consortium could give Apple Pay almost universal access.
