Bemis profits overcome lower sales

NEENAH, Wis. — Bemis Co. reported net income of $54.4 million, an increase from $49.2 million for the same period last year. Net sales fell to $1.04 billion from the previous year’s $110 billion, but rose $2.5% if the effect of currency and divestitures is excluded. Analysts polled by Zacks expected sales of just under $1.6 billion.
