Canadian Tire names Greg Hicks CEO

TORONTO ― Canadian Tire Corp. today announced the appointment of Greg Hicks as president, CEO and member of the board of directors, effective immediately. Hicks most recently served as president of the company’s largest division, Canadian Tire Retail (CTR). Canadian Tire Corp. Chair Maureen Sabia said the company “has selected a world-class leader with a strategic mindset, a proven ability to build high-performing teams and deliver exceptional results. Greg brings a deep understanding of the CTC business model and strategic priorities, a relentless focus on the customer and tremendous commercial acumen.”

As President of CTR, Hicks oversaw all aspects of the business, including building a multi-billion-dollar owned brands portfolio. Prior to that role, he was Canadian Tire’s group senior VP, consumer products and retail experience. His predecessor, Stephen Wetmore, is stepping down from both the CEO position and the board of directors, to which he was first elected in 2003. He will remain on in an advisory capacity through the end of this year as honorary director to support Hicks during the transition.
