Construction spending down in March

Investment in building construction declined 1.3 percent to $20.3 billion in March, StatCan reports, with spending on residential builds down 2.1 percent to $14.6 billion. Investment in the single-family sector fell by 1.8 percent to $7.9 billion. Non-residential construction spending continued to climb, up 0.9 percent to $5.7 billion.
