Cross-border shopping jumps despite Target

OTTAWA — New StatCan figures show a 72% rise in cross-border shopping expenditures by Canadians, suggesting that the arrival of Target hasn’t dampened Canadian enthusiasm for American bargains. The report, which does not break down results by region, comes just weeks ahead of the infamous Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, which lure throngs of Canadian shoppers to retailers south of the border or to similar sales events here at home.
