Ducklings rescued at Home Depot

RUTLAND, Vt. — Seven ducklings who fell through the grate into a storm drain outside a Home Depot were successfully retrieved, and are now being cared for by a woman who sells flowers to the store. Ted Washburn, captain of the Rutland police, explained that gaining access to the drain’s catch basin proved unexpectedly challenging, and the fire department was called in. Firefighters then filled the drain with water and removed the ducklings with a pool scoop.
